Bible Study, History, Art, Literature, Greek Language

                       KOINE  CLASS

Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Milton P. Brown, our small group has begun the study of New Testament (Koine) Greek. The class met regularly in July and August 2009. We plan to continue as an ongoing group and to have periodic meetings beginning this October.

Our text is John H. Dobson's Learn New Testament Greek, which is a user-friendly introduction to the Greek language. Even a small knowledge of Greek adds major new dimensions to the study and enjoyment of the New Testament. Thanks to Dobson's text and Dr. Brown's patient instruction, we are ready to encounter the text itself.

Dr. Brown is a scholar in both New Testament and classical Greek. He taught Bible at Rhodes College from 1960 until his retirement. He is also the author of To Hear the Word, (Mercer, 1987) a lucid and informative book on the origins and background of the Bible and on recent Biblical scholarship.
